In Logger Pro you have the ability to import video.  Once in Logger pro you must set the origin and the scale.  Then you may use the marking function to track the motion of an object frame by frame.  Logger Pro then converts this information into graphs such as those seen above.  Finally, best fit lines and curves can be applied.

             I am looking for funding for 4 Vernier Logger Pro motion sensor for my high school physics students.  We are currently studying motion and gravitational force.  In order to develop and test the ideas of motion my students need to be able to analyze how things move.  With a motion detector they can study constant velocity motion of carts and constant acceleration situations such as falling bodies.  The benefit of this equipment is that it instantaneously graphs position, velocity and acceleration vs. time.  Traditional method of using a stop watch can lead to large uncertainty in the results and can be very labor intensive when creating accurate graphs.   The introduction of the Logger Pro motion sensor, will allow me to help me students to develop an intuitive relationship between acceleration, velocity and position through graphical representations and their own observations before a formal presentation is given.  For example, by asking students to move back and forth in front of the sensor they connect their changes in motion with the graphical quantities.   Furthermore, the equipment will allow students to easily derive the relation ship between force and motion, better understand the buoyant force in fluid dynamics, calculate friction, and analyze simple harmonic motion.    It is because of the great utility and durability of the motion sensor probe, that I am requesting it 4 for my classroom.
